The Ohio Star is one of the best known patterns of our pioneer mothers, and also amongst the Amish and Mennonites. It is much like the "Evening/Harvest Star" but has a extra square in the center, turned on point to make a diamond - that is what makes it the " Ohio Star ".

Our version is a good size for a wall-hanging. We did it in 5 shades of green, but it could be done in black with another color or combination of colors, or in bright colors, as in the illustration at left.

This pattern is intermediate: it is fun and simple, but basic knowledge of quilting and ability to sew an accurate and consistent 1 / 4 " seam allowance is necessary, as well as a little experience matching seams and sewing triangles. (Always watch while working with triangles that you take care not to stretch them.)
