This quilt features the Lone Star block, which is always done as one very large block taking up the whole quilt.

The Lone Star was one of the early patterns well-known to our pioneer ancestors, and is often associated with Texas, although it was probably sewn under different names early in our history, in Pennsylvania and the Ohio Valley as well as in other states, and was likely known by other names by our pioneer mothers and the Amish and Mennonites.

This pattern is experienced: it requires a good knowledge of quilting, especially working with fabric cut on the bias, and matching multiple seams, and an ability to sew an accurate and consistent 1 / 4 " seam allowance is necessary.
