This quilt features the Diamond in a Square block - also known as Square in a Square -, which is often done as one very large block taking up the whole quilt, although in modern times quilters are enjoying making quilts of many such blocks together on a smaller scale. If you like this pattern in light colors, that works too. Ideally, you will want it handquilted with feather patterns, which show well on a plain background and large areas.

The Diamond in a Square was likely one of THE oldest patterns to be pieced by our pioneer ancestors and by the Amish and Mennonites.

This pattern is easy: still, it requires a good basic knowledge of quilting; you will find it quite easy if you have a good ability to sew an accurate and consistent 1 / 4 " seam allowance.
